About Sunrise FL
Incorporated in 1961, Sunrise Golf Village, as it was known then, had a population of 4,300 but soon experienced a boom in population and the city expanded to the west. In 1971, the city, by referendum, was renamed to the City of Sunrise and expanded to the present boundaries.
Sunrise, FL boasts of being one of South Florida’s most progressive cities, and the gateway to a multitude of opportunities for residents and business. Known for spectacular, colorful sunsets, Sunrise is located in the tri-country region of Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties, and today is home to more than 90,000. The city also hosts several million visitors each year. Though it is the 21st largest city in Florida, it still maintains a friendly atmosphere with natural beauty and a commitment to developing for the future while preserving the past.

Sunrise is enjoying a flourishing job market and has become Broward County’s leader in commerce. It has developed the largest corporate office park in South Florida. Sunrise is a sophisticated city which offers its residents many opportunities to experience the arts, fine dining, and first class entertainment of all types.
The BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise is a world-class facility that has more than 100 major entertainment events each year such as Celine Dion, Madonna and Elton John concerts, to name a few. It is also the home of the NHL Florida Panthers.
Public Schools in Sunrise
There are seven elementary, two middle schools, and one high school in Sunrise. The high school, middle schools, and six elementary schools have received an “A” rating under the State of Florida’s “A+ Plan for Education”, which is based on student achievement data from the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test.
