Officially chartered in 1963, Coral Springs, Florida is approximately 20 miles northwest of Fort Lauderdale, FL and part of the South Florida Metropolitan area. The population of Coral Springs as of 2006 was estimated to be 129,805. The city was master-planned as Coral Ridge Properties. Despite the name, there are no springs in the city.
