Officially chartered in 1963, Coral Springs, Florida is approximately 20 miles northwest of Fort Lauderdale, FL and part of the South Florida Metropolitan area.  The population of Coral Springs as of 2006 was estimated to be 129,805.  The city was master-planned as Coral Ridge Properties.  Despite the name, there are no springs in the city.

Things to Do in Coral Springs, FL

There are several community parks in Coral Springs for your enjoyment.  And, there are community activities for a special segment of the population (mentally and physically challenged) such as Boogie Down Dances and Saturday Socials; student and youth activities including a skate park, sports league activities (football, baseball, soccer), and much more.

For those who consider shopping to be entertainment, Coral Square Mall features stores like Macy’s, Sears, Old Navy, and other well-known stores and restaurants.  “The Walk”, located downtown, features clothing and jewelry boutiques, and other interesting shops.  And if that’s not enough, Sawgrass Mills, which is a huge outlet mall, is just 15 minutes away.
